The riverside Villa Mattisse is hidden away in the heart of the traditional fishing village of Seseh, just footsteps away from the beach on Bali’s southwest coast. The villa can accommodate up to ten guests; there are four double bedrooms complete with en-suite bathrooms, and a fifth bedroom with a single bed. Two of the bedrooms are situated within self-contained guest houses in the garden, and there is also a large swimming pool that almost seems to overflow into the river. The style is unashamedly romantic, and the funky colonial architecture is enhanced by a thatched roof and a bold black, white and silver décor.
Location
Seseh is a traditional fishing village on Bali’s south west coast, nestled within the beautiful agricultural belt between Kuta and Tanah Lot. Seseh Beach boasts world-famous surf breaks, and is renowned for its panoramic coastline views and legendary sunsets. Villa Matisse is only twenty-five minutes’ drive from the fashionable shops, world-class restaurants and vibrant nightspots of Seminyak, and about forty-five minutes' drive from Bali's International Airport. Easily accessible sporting amenities include the neighbouring ‘Canggu Club’, and the ‘Nirwana Bali Golf Course’, which was designed by Greg Norman and voted the number 1 golf course in Indonesia. For horse lovers, the ‘Umalas Equestrian Centre’ is just a few kilometres away, and the majority of the island’s tourist attractions are also within easy reach.
You will find Rumah Matisse a comfortable and spacious house with lots of space for "get-2-gethers". The area around the large pool of 25 x 8 meters is surrounded by many out-door lounge benches. A great home & atmosphere for a group of friends to stay, relax or party.
When the first Dutch ship arrived in Bali in the late 16th century, the entire crew abandoned ship and took up residence on the island, refusing to leave. They had found paradise!! Bali has changed since then but has still retained its charm. We felt the same magic and wished to settle down here and never leave again!
And what seemed at first like a dream has worked out. It was easy to find a reason to stay when we discovered Rumah Matisse. A villa with a unique atmosphere and architecture. Family and friends came to visit us often. And they were thrilled with the charm of staying in our home, the staff and the outdoor living-style of Bali. It became normal to have other people in our house during our absence so it started to make sense to rent it out. And it became a pleasure to host people from all over the world, enhance their stay with the best service and be able to watch how everybody falls to the magic of Rumah Matisse.
A villa with personalized hotel management but without the commercial add on expenses or schedule to keep up with.
The access to Rumah Matisse is done through a big parking lot flanked by a balinese temple. After crossing the security post, a surprising scenario of tropical trees and vegetation that surrounds the villa is discovered. A two storey main building with two Main suites in second floor and Suite in the first floor presides area along with two independent bungalows in the garden at each end of a large swimming pool overflowing a river. The Main house holds in first floor, the kitchen and a large covered veranda that is used as a distribution area and as an open dinning room with views to the swimming pool, the river, the beach and the sea. This veranda gives access to the living room (equiped with: Flat TV, satelite channels, Home Cinema Audio, and 24 hours free WIFI Internet connection) and to the laundry room, a guest toilet, and to an internal patio that gives access to the second floor.
In second floor, both Main Suites access to a private open air covered terrace, that is used as a private living area where you can chill and relax while enjoying the views of the garden, the swimming pool, the river and the beach.
In the garden, facing the swimming pool, there is a cozy chillout area with large sofas and pilows; the perfect place to enjoy a balinese massage, or a relaxing "siesta" while listening to the waves and the tropical birds, or just to enjoy with your friends the magical surroundings of Rumah Matisse.
